Biography
Attorney Giffels graduated cum laude (with honors) from the Detroit College of Law (now
Michigan State University Law School). While studying law, James worked full time as an
insurance claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual Insurance, then Citizens Insurance. His extensive
background within the insurance industry gives him an advantage in representing injured clients.
Simply put, he has an insider’s knowledge of how the insurance industry works and uses that
knowledge for the benefit of his clients.
Attorney Giffels holds an undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University (dual major
in Management and Finance) and is a lifetime Kalamazoo resident. Kalamazoo is where he
chooses to practice law and raise his family.
Since he began practicing law, Attorney Giffels has secured millions in verdicts and settlements
for his clients. He has been victorious in obtaining a successful outcome in the overwhelming
majority of the cases he has handled, including a 2008 jury verdict of 3.7 million, which was
the second highest Circuit Court verdict in the history of Kalamazoo County, according to the
Kalamazoo Gazette.
