What kinds of things should I be looking for if I have a loved one in a nursing home?

Nursing home abuse or neglect can manifest itself in many ways, physically and emotionally.

You should pay attention to the following warning signs:

  • open wounds, cuts, bruises, welts or discoloration and the nurse cannot adequately explain the condition
  • a sudden change in behavior, loss of weight, poor personal hygiene, dehydration, malnutrition.
